Here in Leavenworth, Chelan County Fire District 3 is asking the community to partner with us in our Adopt-A-Hydrant program. Adopting a fire hydrant close to your home or business will assist Fire Fighters by keeping hydrants cleared of snow during the winter and free of vegetation in the summer.
In the event of a fire, the quicker the Fire Department has access to water, the quicker they can put a fire out! Hydrant accessibility can help to prevent loss of property and/or life. You can help Chelan County Fire District #3 in this quest by adopting a hydrant and making sure that it is easily reachable throughout the year.
Adoption is a year-long commitment. Each season, this entails:
Signing up is easy. All you have to do is search for a hydrant near you and pick one that is available for adoption. Give it a name and take good care of it.
